Bartlett-English Property Claims
The Bartlett-English Property crosses the common corners of Bartlett, English, Geikie and Zavitz Townships in the Porcupine Mining Division, Ontario. The center of the contiguous claim block occurs ~6 km south of the Texmont Property’s southern boundary astride the Redstone River and Muskrat Lake (for ~1,198 hectares). Recent geophysics work has been complete on the southern claims below where mineralized targets have been defined. The geophysics has identified similar anomalies to the Texmont deposit to the north and the famous Mt. Keith deposit in Australia; the largest nickel mine in the world.
South of Texmont Property History
Several companies have examined the ultramafic units south of Texmont, including those on the Bartlett-English Property. Assessment files in the MNDM (OGS) resident geologist’s South Porcupine office have been examined and locations of report areas are shown in Figures 10 and 11. Drill holes and selected highlights are shown in Figure 12. Most recently, Pele Mountain Resources Inc. have drilled Geotech AEM conductors in komatiitic units south of the former Texmont Mine (Pele Mountain Press Release, dated May 12, 2005.)
Bartlett-English Property
The Bartlett-English Property is underlain by Archean ultramafic komatiites within the same stratigraphic package hosting the Texmont Property. The northern boundary of the Bartlett-English Property starts ~2.5 km from the southern boundary of the Texmont Property. Exploration programs have been conducted from time to time on the Bartlett-English Property, but all claim holdings associated with these exploration campaigns have lapsed. In 1958, Queenston Mining Inc. filed assessment reports for a former claim package covering a substantial portion of the current Fletcher claim block in Bartlett Township (MNDM-OGS resident geologist’s office in South Porcupine File T-520). Sulphides were found as “goose eggs” of pyrrhotite and pyrite in peridotites and assayed 0.25% Ni just west of the Redstone River. However, to the east of the river, a sulphide mineralized zone was found, edited quote:
“Samples of the more highly mineralized sections of this zone show a nickel content up to 0.56%. In this instance, there may be a relationship between the amount of pyrrhotite [sic] present […]: The mineralized zone extends 350’ west of the west boundary of claim 42728.”
This sulphide location might reflect another zone of Type II komatiitic mineralization. The author cannot determine whether assaying techniques used excluded silicate nickel content. A budget totalling $275,000 has been prepared for the Bartlett-English Property.
